There are so many disorders, diseases, disabilities and deprivations in the world. Most of us probably suffer from one or the other of these ‘d’s. And, like most others, we just keep going at it, trying to live life in the best way we can as optimistically and cheerfully as possible.
Very often we may not even really know what it is that ails us and our dear ones. In fact, we may not even realize that we are suffering from some ailment.
Physical ailments are seen – so we tend to seek cures for them. But mental disorders – psychological problems or learning disabilities, for instance – are hidden and often less understood. Besides physical and mental disabilities, there is a lot of trauma caused by deprivation – socio-economic and geographic deprivation.
Spread across the globe, there are likely to be others who are living with disabilities like ours. If we can share our fears and anxieties, our tips and tricks to overcome these fears and anxieties, and just reach out to each other and learn from each other, it could make life and living easier, better and more joyful for all of us.
What is required is a greater AWARENESS of the conditions and how people are combating these conditions. When we know that there is someone else who is going through the same difficulties as we are, and we can help just by sharing our thoughts, feelings, ideas and experiences, why shouldn’t we?
DEEP has been conceived for this purpose. I hope it becomes a lively meeting place in cyberspace for people like us.
